Quick Tip – Keep your Favorite Libraries Open in Illustrator

In this Quick Tip, we’ll learn how to keep your favorite libraries (Swatches, Brushes, Shapes…) available when you launch Illustrator.
If you’ve been working in Photoshop and Illustrator, the way your favorite libraries work is not the same, in Photoshop, there’s a unique library for each presets for all the documents. In Illustrator it’s not the same, the presets (brushes, swatches) are saved in the document, so the problem is each time you start a project, you’ve got to load your favorite presets into it. Here’s a way to keep your favorite libraries open all the time.
Step 1 – Persistent Libraries
If you want to keep a Swatch library opened, load it by going in the Swatches panel, open the drop down menu in the top right of this panel, select Open Swatch Library – Other Library… and select your swatches.

To make it open permanently, open the drop down menu on the top right of the library you just opened and select Persistent.

Repeat the same process for other styles of libraries (Brushes, Styles, shapes…) if you want to make them persistent.

This tip can be very time saving, this way you can use your favorite presets. Leave us a comment if you’ve got some requests for the next Quick Tip.
